JD Genesis – Ivy League Law Student Panel

Interested in attending an Ivy League law school? Join us on Saturday, April 25 at 12 pm PST for a panel of law students from across some of the top ranked law schools in the country. We will have an insightful and candid discussion on choosing a law school and thriving. This session pulls back the curtain on the decision-making process, exploring how to weigh school culture, academic programs, and personal “fit” when selecting the right campus. From managing the transition into 1L to building a meaningful support system while balancing life, our panelists will share their law school journey.

🌱 Elisabeth Betts is a first-year law student at Columbia Law School. A Northwestern University alumna and Richard Paul Richman Leadership Fellow, Elisabeth brings experience from private equity to her legal studies. Focused on corporate law, she is spending her upcoming summers at a hedge fund and a top-tier law firm. Off-campus, you’ll find her exploring NYC’s food scene—check her 400+ ratings on Beli!

🌱 Ian Hayes is a third-year law student at Cornell Law School. The Editor-in-Chief of the Cornell Law Review (Vol. 111), Ian is a Harvard University graduate with a diverse professional background ranging from juvenile corrections to marketing. His legal training has centered on high-stakes clinical work, including appellate death penalty defense and asylum representation. Outside of the law, he’s a gospel choir singer and a hopeful plant parent.

🌱 Elsie Mares is a first-year law student at Yale Law School. An aspiring human rights lawyer with a Master of Public Policy from McGill, Elsie’s career is rooted in immigration justice and labor organizing. At Yale, she serves as a Features Editor for the Yale Journal of International Law, the 1L representative for La Sociedad de Latino Law Students, and works with the Lowenstein Human Rights Clinic.

🌱 Landry Irumva is a first-year law student at Harvard Law School. With a deep background in federal policy, Landry previously worked on Capitol Hill for the Congressional Black Caucus and the late Senator Dianne Feinstein. At HLS, he serves as a Managing Executive Editor of the Harvard Law & Policy Review. He is headed to Covington & Burling LLP and Meta for his upcoming summers, focusing on the intersection of law, policy, and tech.
