JD Genesis – DC Law Student Panel

Interested in attending a law school in Washington, D.C.? Join us on Sunday, July 19th at 4 pm PST for a panel of law students from across Washington, D.C. We will have an insightful and candid discussion about choosing a law school and thriving.

It’s time to introduce our panelists!

🌱 Kira Jones is a rising second-year law student at Howard University School of Law and a graduate of The Ohio State University. Passionate about environmental justice, she previously interned at the White House and enjoys hot yoga, concerts, art galleries, and exploring D.C. cafés.

🌱Jazanae Reid is a second-year law student at The George Washington University Law School and a Georgia State University alumna. On campus, she’s President of the Tech Law Student Association and Fundraising Chair of her school’s Student Bar Association. Currently, she is focusing on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and cites her passion as having led her to pursue a career in public service. Outside of school and work, Jazanaé enjoys reading, hiking, and baking.

🌱 Maryam Alghafir is a recent graduate of Georgetown Law and an alumna of the University of Houston. During law school, she represented a client in the CALS Asylum Clinic and interned with Human Rights First, Center for Constitutional Rights , Syria Justice and Accountability Centre, TrialWatch Clooney Foundation for Justice, and the United States Department of Justice Human Rights and Special Prosecution Section. A Global Law Scholar, she studied Public International Law at Leiden University College The Hague. Outside of academics, she enjoys baking, cooking, spending time with her cat, and nature walks.

🌱 Ryan Ferebee is a 2025 graduate of The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. Ryan currently supports future law students through the admissions process and hopes to build a career in estate planning.

🌱Jazzalin Grindle is a third-year law student at American University Washington College of Law, having previously received her BA in Political Science with a Minor in Deaf Studies from Boston University. Following her undergraduate education, Jazzalin became the first in her family to attend law school. As President of ADVANCE, AUWCL’s organization for first-generation law students, she advocates for first-generation law students and plans to pursue criminal defense and plaintiff-side personal injury litigation. She also enjoys music and crafting.

🌱 Kashae G. is a second-year evening law student at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC Law) and a Villanova University alumna, with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Criminology. While at Villanova, she became an advocate for marginalized students and a published writer focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Currently, she is a full-time paralegal and serves as a 2LE Senator for her school’s SBA.
